According to Biologists, all organisms are classified broadly into two categories; living and non-living organisms. They based this classification on the ground of certain characteristics. In the case of non-living things, they classified them in this category because they do not have life in them. In other words, they do not breathe or respirate. Meanwhile, their counterparts- the living things, breathe and carry out their own activities on their own accord.

Human beings have been also classified to be a living thing in this category, because we also have breathe in us. And, of course, we all can say how essential it is for us to breathe. Without breathe we cannot last more than minutes (depending on long we have been trained to hold it). However, breathing is not what makes us human in the real sense of it.

Scientists have said that there are ten (10) characteristics that made living things to be called so.

These are;

1. MOVEMENT
2. RESPIRATION
3. NUTRITION
4. IRRITABILITY
5. GROWTH
6. EXCRETION
7. REPRODUCTION
8. COMPETITION
9. ADAPTABILITY
10. DEATH

As much as we are alive, we must carry out all of these ten things. However, if we take them out of their context and apply it to our life, we'd start 'living' indeed.
For starters, we may not be able to live the life we're meant to if we don't move out of our comfort zone. Our comfort zone is where we get chained down to be given food when we could also be providing it. So, to live that life, MOVE.
Also, you have to breathe. Try all you can to keep your breath. Because you can only achieve your goals while you still have them.
And you also need to feed. Feed your body with food and feed your mind with knowledge. Feed yourself with information that would help you. Feed your brain with positive thoughts.
You have to also learn to control your response to things happening around you. Be calm and psychoanalytic. Don't throw stone at every dog that barks at you. Be wise in your reaction to stimuli.
Grow everyday. Read books, learn, unlearn and relearn everyday. Don't be rigid minded. Don't remain the same person that you were yesterday.

Purge yourself of any bad thing you notice in your life. Correct your mistakes and clean any mess you have created.
Don't forget that part of your living process is to also reproduce what you have learnt about life to help people who are just growing. Teach that which you know to others who do not!
Compete to grow. And try to learn the rule of competition. You won't always win, so learn when you lose. And also respect your competitor.
You should also be ready to embrace changes. Things will always change and it is your ability to adapt to those changes that will show how much you've known.
Be ready to die. Die to all negativities. Die to all the things you have outgrown. Die to being a mediocre and be ready to take the bull by the horns.
Without doing all of these things, I can boldly say that you're not alive but just breathing.  You should live too. There are people who wanted to live but do not have the benefits of breath that you have, do not waste your breathing opportunity without living.
If you have chosen to live, keep on living.
Cheers to a lovely week ahead.
