Should a Woman Approach a man First? A Personal Reflection on Love, Courage, and Tradition

Image
I opened this episode of the Skinnies podcast with gratitude and a little vulnerability. Returning to content creation came with real fears. Beyond wondering whether I could record again, I questioned whether people still wanted to hear my voice and connect with my thoughts. That uncertainty lingered quietly in my mind. The response from listeners eased that fear. The engagement confirmed that my audience still cared, still listened, and still valued my perspective. That reassurance grounded the emotional direction of this episode. Loving Without Expectation Before I introduce the main subject, let's reflect on what it means to love one’s neighbour . Is it the “give-and-take” mindset that conditions kindness on reciprocity? I believe love should flow without negotiation or expectation of return. Early one morning, while returning from an outing, I saw two young children—no more than seven or eight years old—walking with food items in their hands. One carried pepper . The other...

Have you ever paused something meaningful, telling yourself “I’ll come back to it later”… and later never came? As the year wraps up, here’s a heartfelt reflection on growth, consistency, courage , and why small beginnings still count. When Life Stretches You — But Still Blesses You This year didn’t come gently. It stretched. It dragged. But it also taught, refined, and blessed. The host of Skinnies Podcast openly reflects on restarting her podcast after a long pause — not because everything was perfect, but because someone reminded her that people were listening, even when she felt invisible . “ Some things we do are seeds . They don’t shout immediately. But they grow.” And that message alone is a powerful reminder for anyone who has delayed their dreams, gifts, business ideas, or creative projects...

THE HATE YOU GIVE, LIVES INSIDE FOR EVER (THUG LIFE)

Image
THE HATE YOU GIVE, LIVES INSIDE FOREVER (THUG LIFE)      C redit to Tupac Shakur and his other friends who are the original owners of the word. Albeit I won’t be going by their definition of a thug. You see, a lot of us see a thug as someone who is ruthless, someone who doesn’t care a hoot about the feelings of others.       W e see them as someone who are bad-tempered, not serious with their life, and ill-behaved and we just zero on them. We look at them from a distance and we just decide that they are not to be reckoned with and we blame them for their kind of personality.

FOCUS ON THE PATH; IGNORE THE OBSTACLES.

FOCUS ON THE PATH; IGNORE THE OBSTACLES. Sometimes ago, I was on Facebook and I saw a video from a speech given by a speaker (motivational speaker) at an event and I saw a lesson in what he said. He said, "You can't tell the human brain to do the negative. For instance, don't think of an elephant". The audience, including myself who was watching, immediately thought about an elephant, and then I immediately understood what he meant. He continued and said, " The human brain is difficult not to do something. That is why when you're learning to ski, the skiers would tell you to focus on the road, because the second you think in your head, 'don't hit the tree', that is when you'd run right through to one." You see, in our lives also, we are always trying to not make mistakes. We want to be so sure; we want to be perfect. Trevor Noah said in one of his comedies, "One problem of humans is that we get so comfortable knowing- 'how is t...

Reasons why you should be good to people

HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH PEOPLE AROUND YOU.  From the existence of the world, man is to relate with the people around him. In one way or the other, there is always an association between an individual with others either temporary or permanent. A group of people might come together to carry out an experiment or a discovery, and then separate after the success of what they intended to do. That is a temporary relationship. Also, a man and his child will have a permanent relationship throughout the days of their lives. Relationship means connection and interaction with people. In an organisation, there will surely be a relationship between the staff or workers. The fact is that the level of relationship defers, there's what we call general relationship and we can also have personal relationship. General relationship is the type of relationship we have towards everybody, such as greeting them, sharing some time together once in a while and others. Personal relationship ...
