MASKED AGONY

MASKED AGONY

Numerous things are going on presently, and it is saddening. If we cry out loud it sounds like a whisper, and when we even whisper it seems we are not making any sound.
I wish to write about the Owo, Ondo state Catholic Church massacre, but words fail me and my heart is sick. Since I cannot bring myself to write I cannot also put aside this" I pray for all lost souls to rest in peace”, for those who lost someone, I pray for the fortitude to bear the lost for them, for the injured the swift recovery they deserve, those whose lives are dangling I pray God spares their lives. Then, for the perpetrators of this evil and their backers, we rain a heap of fire and pray their judgement comes hastily.
So, today I decided to write about another pain our great giant is putting us through at the moment.
The incessant strike actions embarked on by the almighty industrial body “ASUU” is a thing of agony to most Nigerian students attending public tertiary institutions, as “Asuu” has become terrors and dreaded bodies in the lives of these fellows.
It is said that, “when two elephants fight, the grass suffers”. This has become the tale of the Federal government and our almighty warriors “Asuu” seeking payment for battles they have fought. These two bodies are the elephants while the students are the grass, they wiggle and yawn in pain but what grass have you seen fighting back before so, the students mask up the agonies.
The agony has to be masked because what choice do they have? When they are being put in a tight corner as the only choice they could have taken is to go to private universities or better still fly out of the country. But unfortunately, if these means were available, would they not have taken this option rather than wasting precious years in a public university?
Tope, a two hundred level students of the premiere university despite masking his agony by learning graphics design amidst the strike, still lamented that two years has been added to his supposed 4 years course. He doesn't know if more years would be added, but he is depressed as it feels like he has not been making progress.
Take a look at Clara who sought admission for several years and when finally her dream comes to reality she has to battle with a reality unfolding before her eyes“ the endless battle of the Federal government and our almighty warrior comrades''Asuu.
So, just like Tope, countless students have poured out of school again to go take free online courses if they get any, some are learning vocational skills or putting up for some freelance activities but do not forget that this is just a mask they have put on, THEY ARE IN AGONY.
Others who are not like Tope have given up on the BEST LEGACY and are seeking available legacies that since they did stay away from school of their accord but were forced to with endless strike they have donated their souls to tormenting the country.
It is known that there is no excuse for crime, but most times we forget that we created the monsters we are battling so, do not blame them, THEY ARE IN AGONY.

They keep masking this pain 🙁. They don't even know who is fighting for them. If it is Asuu they don't know, if it is the federal government they do not know.

  1. I think ASUU has a good cause to fight for. I just don't think the fight would ensure better results as before. We will be fine.

  2. This administration is the most headstrong civilian administration ever! Sadly, I hope this trend won't continue in the next administration.
